all aboard for the crazy train! next stop: hell! October 30, 2007
i am fresh off the road and ready to lock myself in my room alone for the next 5 days.
being the sole parent in a non-baby proof house for the last 5 days was very wearing and i hope to never repeat the experiance. besides that, paige played in a light socket, almost got attacked by a dog, nearly ate dog food, stuck her hand in a can of old bacon grease, almost fell out of her high chair (but was luckliy saved by her head that wedged her between the seat and the counter) and didn’t sleep a solid night the entire time. addie pooped her pants 3 times, watched about 12 days worth of tv in 5 days and stayed awake until 1:30 am one night.
i got sick, my sister is so angry with me she probably won’t speak to me for weeks and my kids are crying right now to eat and we have no food in the house.
all in all, a typical road trip.
but after all that complaining, i have to say that steve worked hard on the kitchen while i was gone and the house was mostly clean.
blustery and pensive October 25, 2007
tonight after my walk i set down on my front porch steps. as i looked down my street i couldn’t believe how different it looks than it did a couple of months ago. the landscape is changing. leaves are falling off the trees, there aren’t many left. there are piles of them in yards and all over the street. i resisted the urge (i would have followed 10 years ago) to jump in leaf piles.
we have changed a lot since we moved also. it’s been 7 months, but it feels like a lifetime. steve and i are doing better, individually and as a couple. paige is MUCH better (although at the moment she is crying her head off) and addisyn is well-adjusted and enjoying preschool and new friends.
i would be remiss if i didn’t pay respects to mark brown right now. he was a fellow mbc’er who died in october 1994. i think of him every october.
i will be gone for a few days, but don’t give up on me. i’ll be back next week with tales of new and exciting adventures.
sewing frenzy October 23, 2007
thanks to monica, the best sewing teacher and seamtress i know, i am in a sewing frenzy. my entire dining room table is covered in sewing projects that are in various stages of completion. and i keep thinking of new and exciting things to make. i have always hated sewing, until now. when i get addie’s cowgirl quilt done i will post a picture so you can all be impressed and think i am amazing.
snow 101 October 22, 2007
according to my 3 year old, “snow begins with a single white snowflake and then it snows and snows and snows and snows!!!!”
needless to say, she is very excited for it to snow.
so sad October 22, 2007
the last 5 days have been crazy fun. one of my favorite people in the world was here to visit me and we had a blast. we knit, shoppped, talked, sewed, ate, had pedicures, went to roller derby. it was good times. but today i had to take her back to the airport and say good bye.
so sad. i think i’ll go listen to country songs.
joint effort by brooke and mo October 21, 2007

100 years old October 12, 2007
tonight i hung out with my brother in his dorm. i am 14 years older than him, but tonight i felt like i was 100 years older. just being around him and his friends for awhile made me realize how much i have changed since i was a college freshman. i compiled a list in my mind, and hopefully i can remember it long enough to type it out. i am practically senile, you know.
1. i think before i speak, mostly.
2. i have a LOT of gray hairs.
3. i realize that i can not conquer the world.
4. i consider it a good day when i don’t have to clean poop off someone’s rear.
5. i love going to bed early.
6. i realize taco bell is cheap for a good reason.
i think there were more, but i have forgotten them. another testament to my aging mind.
this week’s forecast October 8, 2007
every sunday night steve and i have a family meeting. we talk about the upcoming week’s events, as well as our goals for the week.
i decided to share my goals for this week with you.
1. tighten up first-time obedience with addisyn.
2. read the bible daily.
3. run 2x, pilates 2x.
4. not get committed to the crazy house.
and if i am doing really good, i have one more.
5. eat 10,000 calories a day.
wish me luck.
