we’re leaving town, again. i am not ready to pack us all up and head off to another new place, but away we go. we’ve been out of town a total of almost 4 weeks since june, staying in 6 different places. we’ve had 6 sets of comapny since june also, with more coming when we get home next week.
needless to say, i am ready for the “slow” pace of fall!
my newest obsession August 26, 2008
…is embroidering. i did quite a bit as a child with my grandma, and recently picked it up again, mostly because my sewing machine died. but i am loving it! it’s fast, easy and requires very little skill, all of which are requirements for me.
i am working on a set of “days of the week” tea towels for my kitchen. i’ll show you them when i’m done.

goes to addie. without me asking her to do it, she cleared the table after dinner, put the cold stuff back in the fridge and swept the floor.
she also has a regular habit of fixing breakfast, which i love because by the time i get up, she has the breakfast table set and usually cereal in the bowls! there’s nothing better than waking up to your 4 year old telling you she made breakfast! by the time she is 10, maybe she’ll be fixing dinner!
retro overload August 21, 2008
i love red and i love retro kitchens. i combined the two to decorate my own kitchen. but it takes awhile to accumulate authentic retro decor, because it is sometimes hard to come by and also can be pricey. but in my quest i have accumualted not one, but TWO red formica kitchen tables. i got them both at very good prices, and i have to sell one to pay for the other one i recently bought (with matching chairs!). but i find myself not wanting to sell the old one! i don’t need it, i don’t have a place to put it, but i just LIKE it alot. red formica tables with shiny chrome siding make me happy. nevertheless, it’s going on craigslist this week, so i guess i’ll have to part with it with a “happy heart” as i tell my daughter. maybe it will make someone else happy in their kitchen.
btw, the table in the photo isn’t mine, but it looks like mine.
summer vacation August 20, 2008
i took a summer vacation from blogging. i’ve had gobs of stuff i wanted to post, but didn’t. hopefully i’ll remember some of it. anyway, with that said, just wanted to let you know that summer break is over and i’m back.
