chocolate education November 29, 2007
last night my friend tammi and i went to the chocolate apothecary for a class on chocolate. it was very similar to a wine tasting (not that i’ve ever been to one of those), but we tasted many kinds of chocolates from all over the world, learned all kinds of cool things about the origins and process of making chocolate and had a wonderful time. i think one of my favorite and most interesting tastes was a dark chocolate that first tasted cinnamony and then as i swallowed it had a kick-cayenne pepper!
i never thought i could reach my chocolate limit, but last night i did. after tasting 30 or so artisan dark chocolates, i was beginning to get a stomachache, but it was so worth it! i can’t wait to go back!

in a nutshell July 24, 2007
we are in troutlake, wa for a few days. it is one of the most beautiful places in the world, as far as i am concerned. yesterday my friend and i took our kids on a “hike”. it’s really a flat 1 mile walk thru the woods. all was well until we started home. both 3 year old girls had a hard time making it home…but eventually, we made it, with much threats and bribes.
this morning we had an awesome bike ride. here they are again, in dor’s bike trailer, having a very relaxing ride (dor had to do all the work!).
and over the weekend we went to a 10ish year reunion at MBC in portland. it was so GOOD to see faces i haven’t seen in years. i laughed a lot. props to my friend ian for coordinating the entire thing…
apparently, we have all been busy the last 10 years…there were about 200 (it felt like) kids running around, like wild chickens, having a ball. i actually feared the “kid gang” barreling through the halls. no major injuries though, and it was pretty cool seeing our offspring play and have fun just as we did many years ago.
